Annette Funicello did not only perform and sing, she was also an actor. She is best known for her role as one of the original "Mouseketeers" on the 'Mickey Mouse Club.' She began singing in her teens and became popular for the smash song "Tall Paul" as well as "Pineapple Princess." Annette was born in Utica to Italian parents. As a child she had a lot of timidity. Annette hoped to make a career in the entertainment industry and soon took the stage and began to dance. The mid-1950s saw her gain a significant amount of recognition through her performances as a character in "Disney" comedy sketches. Annette's "Disney" persona was discarded after she turned an adult and began playing adult roles. The most recognizable role she played was as the pioneer in the genre of beach parties.
